Celebrating life at Komen Chicago

In honor breast cancer awareness month, I want to share that Charizma is committed to adding our energy and enthusiasm to bring more attention to this cause. We have done this by performing at Komen events in Grand Rapids and Lansing Michigan, Madison, Wisconsin, and our nations capital, Washington, DC not to mention Chicago and Lombard, IL. There is a consistancy with the people that we meet that are excited to be there and have a story to tell. Susan G. Komen was a model who died in 1980 at the age of 36 after a three-year battle with breast cancer. Her younger sister, Nancy G. Brinker, founded the Susan G. Komen Foundation in her honor.  Brinker started the foundation in 1982 because of a promise she made to her dying sister to help women with breast cancer. Both believed that if women knew more about breast cancer and their choices, survival rates would increase. The foundation raises money for breast cancer research, organizes charity runs and walks and promotes self-advocacy and early detection. I have many friends and family members who have been affected by this horrible disease, thankfully they are still with us. Charizma will continue to do all it can to help the cause. Cancer does not discriminate.
