Love is Love

As I reflect on this wedding season, Charizma Entertainment has and will always support the bonds of love that compel the desire to marry. This past June I’ve had the privilege to do my first, and I hope of many same sex weddings. Congratulations to Katie and Jen, our lovely brides, who in the midst of planning their wedding were also working on their doctorates. Seeing my ladies laugh and cry in the ceremony and dance the night away at the beautiful Morton Arboretum made my heart explode with pure joy. You see people are people and love has no boundaries.

Terry and Steve had a whole show planned in a different way at Mayne Stage, from the introductions to the exchanging of the vowels “AEI OU,” they shared their video montages of the marriage at the Skokie court house and a snapshot of their life as a couple. What blew me away was how Terry and Steve shared the journey of the relationship as if you had a front row seat. Their family and friends in attendance felt the love as they acknowledged every couple that were in the room. As friends and family toasted the guys it was clear again that love is love.

I recently emceed a wedding reception in Cleveland for my good friends at Rock the House Entertainment. The marketing director, Nick Duve, is a friend and colleague in our industry. I was with him when the news went viral on June 26, 2015, that the Supreme court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage. Words can not touch the intensity of his feelings that day. What I do know is that it’s finally permitted for him to marry the man he loves. Nick’s words are real and I share this with you and hope you can grasp the magnitude that this decision means for a group of people who have waited for this a long long time.

Congratulations to all who are now able to marry the love of their life. I would be honored to be a part of your love story.

Marz ROCKS a Geologist’s Wedding

This week, Marz and the crew travel to Victoria Banquets Rosemont for a very special ‘Charizma first’ wedding – for a geologist! Needless to say, this wedding ROCKED… Get it? Rocked? … Anyways, this couple wanted to do something special for their special day so they decided to come by and take a few dance lessons with Marz, and on their wedding day, we brought out our Dancing on the Clouds fog machine and really made the dance floor a magical place to be. Just because you wear black doesn’t mean it’s OK!!!

Everyone has their own style. We are in the image business and every day we step into the spotlight of someone’s event. In the world of mobile entertainment, Charizma has tried to uphold a certain flair with our emcees, djs, and interactive dancers. Black will always rank at the top of what to wear to work or perform at an event. It’s time to shed that image and move into a world of color. As an accent or a primary it can be a game changer in the way you look at your next event.

Things that you have to keep in mind is this… If you’re trying to add a little pop your wardrobe – Get Help!! Most major stores have fashion consultants that are more than willing to get you updated. Places such as Men’s Warehouse have changed the game in formal wear with tuxes and suits that don’t make you feel like your dad’s clothes. Express for Men has grown to be the place to get colorful shirts and tie or vest that make you turn heads when you walk into the room. Banana Republic has the style that can take you from conservative to eccentric.

Your footware is a game changer. Places like DSW provides you with everything from a pair of Chuck Taylors to Florsheim. Accessories will get you noticed also. Bow ties and crazy socks to go with your outfit will get you compliments and serve as conversation-starters with your next potential client. No matter what direction you decide to go updating your wardrobe, let the people know that care about being great, starting with looking great. Charizma and the Ohio Wedding

Charizma had the distinct pleasure of traveling to the Buckeye State to rock out a wedding at the Athletic Club of Columbus! According to the rest of the country, Ohio as a state has the most pride out of any state in the US, so naturally, the party was a huge success. When Ohioan’s gather on the dance floor, there’s just no stopping them. It was really great to bring the Chicago flavor to Columbus. As you’ll see in the video, Marz was out there on the dance floor with everybody to make sure the energy was constantly at a 10. The music was groovy, the smiles were infectious, and we brought our brand of spontaneous perfection across state lines (totally legal by the way). Would we go there again? You bet your buckeyes we would.

Walt’s Wonderful Wedding

This week, Emcee Walt traveled to Concorde Banquets in Kildeer, IL to rock a wedding. The bride and groom only had one request for this celebration – they wanted everyone to have the best time they possibly could – and Walt made sure that became a reality. Friends and family all gathered around and danced their hearts out. At the end of the night, as a partied out crowd started leaving the venue, Walt made sure they all had smiles on their faces. Ashley & PJ’s Wedding

Charizma Entertainment is back again at Beau Jolie, but this time in the Chocolate Room for Ashley and PJ’s wedding! The room was absolutely stunning, the guests were all excited and the energy was electric. When we met with the couple before the wedding they were very specific about wanting to create an authentic, soulful vibe for their friends and family because they were both so into music. We knew a fun blend of soul and rock would be the key to victory for everyone at the event. For any DJ / MC the challenge is always to make sure everyone’s musical taste is being accommodated, and when Ashley and PJ said “Marz gets us… Charizma knows what a wedding needs to be, they feel the vibe and really make sure the clientele knows whats going on” … We knew we nailed it. We have always been believers of ‘Spontaneous Perfection’ – that feeling of living in the moment and making sure its absolutely perfect, which is why we work so hard to make it a reality for our clients. When we are able to look around a room and see 10 year olds, 30 year olds and 70 year olds all dancing with huge smiles on their faces, we know we’ve spread the message correctly. It is this notion that keeps us going, and keeps people coming back. We wish Ashley and PJ all the best – the wedding was a knockout and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store. Traditional Thai Wedding

This week, you’ll get an inside glimpse on what goes into a traditional Thai wedding. Marz and the Charizma crew traveled to Victoria’s Beau Jolie Grand Ballroom for Josh and Wisa’s special day. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful – the guests were all smiles and taking tons of pictures as rings were exchanged, followed by a traditional Thai water ceremony. If you don’t know about the water ceremony, in Thai culture its technically the most important part of the wedding. This is the time where the couple actually becomes husband and wife. Each of the elder guests approach the water pouring table and offer kind words as they pour holy water from a conch shell over the bride and groom’s hands.

From there, the celebration was moved into the Grand Ballroom where friends and family were treated to traditional Thai dancing, incredible food, and of course, a night to remember. For this wedding, Charizma provided uplighting for the room, a photo booth for guests to have fun, DJ entertainment, and a custom monogram written in Thai that was shined on the dance floor. We played traditional Thai music as everyone danced and smiled, then had some fun with the American classics to finish off the night. Josh and Wisa were ecstatic!

This was Charizma’s first traditional Thai wedding and it was an absolute blast. We love learning about and engaging in new cultural experiences and really getting a feel for how it all works. We pride ourselves on our ability to keep with tradition but still make it fun for everyone. We truly hope that we will get to experience another Thai wedding in the future!

Marz has a blast at Amanda and Randy’s wedding

“I am now with the girl of my dreams… and the DJ of my dreams” – What a night it was with Amanda and Randy! Marz and the Charizma crew headed out armed with a custom funky mix and a trunk full of LED uplights and simply transformed the room into a full blown party. The bride, groom and guests were thrilled beyond belief and danced the night away until someone had to kick them out! Like every bride before the big day, Amanda had a million things going through her mind, and it was our true pleasure to put her at ease so all she had to do was sit back and enjoy the celebration. Like we tell all of our couples – Our job is to make it feel like you’re a guest at your own event. We don’t want you worrying about ANYTHING other than having the time of your life. Then after its all said and done, you are able to look back and say “wow, that wedding was spectacular” – spontaneous perfection… it’s what we do. Make sure you take some advice from Amanda and Randy and give us a call – we’d be delighted to be part of your special day, and we think you’d feel the same about us. Marz Rocks Christine and Ryan’s Wedding

Anybody who attends a wedding, whether its the guests, wedding party, catering staff, photographer, DJ… they all hope for one thing: fun. Christine and Ryan’s wedding definitely didn’t lack anything in that category!

When Marz headed out to Metropolis Ballroom in Arlington Heights to set up, he was really surprised by how spacious and beautiful the room was. That evening, Charizma provided a photo booth and DJ entertainment to maximize the fun, and the guests weren’t disappointed – all night everyone was up on their feet with huge smiles on their faces.

As you’ll see in the video, beautiful bride Christine started off the evening wearing her gorgeous, full length wedding dress, then after all the ‘traditional’ wedding fair, she changed into a little white party dress so she could move a little more on the dance floor! Typically, you won’t see this happening at a wedding, but we’ve seen it happening more and more this year especially with younger couples who really want to make sure they have a good time and nobody is stepping on (and possibly destroying) the beautiful traditional ceremony dress.
