This week, Marz and the crew travel to Victoria Banquets Rosemont for a very special ‘Charizma first’ wedding – for a geologist! Needless to say, this wedding ROCKED… Get it? Rocked? … Anyways, this couple wanted to do something special for their special day so they decided to come by and take a few dance lessons with Marz, and on their wedding day, we brought out our Dancing on the Clouds fog machine and really made the dance floor a magical place to be. Marz was out on the floor dancing his face off and made sure everyone was having a blast! ROCK and roll! … Another geologist pun …
Everyone has their own style. We are in the image business and every day we step into the spotlight of someone’s event. Bow ties and crazy socks to go with your outfit will get you compliments and serve as conversation-starters with your next potential client. No matter what direction you decide to go updating your wardrobe, let the people know that care about being great, starting with looking great. Charizma had the distinct pleasure of traveling to the Buckeye State to rock out a wedding at the Athletic Club of Columbus! According to the rest of the country, Ohio as a state has the most pride out of any state in the US, so naturally, the party was a huge success. When Ohioan’s gather on the dance floor, there’s just no stopping them. It was really great to bring the Chicago flavor to Columbus. As you’ll see in the video, Marz was out there on the dance floor with everybody to make sure the energy was constantly at a 10. The music was groovy, the smiles were infectious, and we brought our brand of spontaneous perfection across state lines (totally legal by the way). Would we go there again? You bet your buckeyes we would.

Charizma Entertainment is back again at Beau Jolie, but this time in the Chocolate Room for Ashley and PJ’s wedding! The room was absolutely stunning, the guests were all excited and the energy was electric. When we met with the couple before the wedding they were very specific about wanting to create an authentic, soulful vibe for their friends and family because they were both so into music. We knew a fun blend of soul and rock would be the key to victory for everyone at the event. For any DJ / MC the challenge is always to make sure everyone’s musical taste is being accommodated, and when Ashley and PJ said “Marz gets us… Charizma knows what a wedding needs to be, they feel the vibe and really make sure the clientele knows whats going on” … We knew we nailed it. We have always been believers of ‘Spontaneous Perfection’ – that feeling of living in the moment and making sure its absolutely perfect, which is why we work so hard to make it a reality for our clients. When we are able to look around a room and see 10 year olds, 30 year olds and 70 year olds all dancing with huge smiles on their faces, we know we’ve spread the message correctly. It is this notion that keeps us going, and keeps people coming back. We wish Ashley and PJ all the best – the wedding was a knockout and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store. This week, you’ll get an inside glimpse on what goes into a traditional Thai wedding. Marz and the Charizma crew traveled to Victoria’s Beau Jolie Grand Ballroom for Josh and Wisa’s special day. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful – the guests were all smiles and taking tons of pictures as rings were exchanged, followed by a traditional Thai water ceremony. If you don’t know about the water ceremony, in Thai culture its technically the most important part of the wedding. This is the time where the couple actually becomes husband and wife. Each of the elder guests approach the water pouring table and offer kind words as they pour holy water from a conch shell over the bride and groom’s hands.
From there, the celebration was moved into the Grand Ballroom where friends and family were treated to traditional Thai dancing, incredible food, and of course, a night to remember. For this wedding, Charizma provided uplighting for the room, a photo booth for guests to have fun, DJ entertainment, and a custom monogram written in Thai that was shined on the dance floor. We played traditional Thai music as everyone danced and smiled, then had some fun with the American classics to finish off the night. Josh and Wisa were ecstatic!
This was Charizma’s first traditional Thai wedding and it was an absolute blast. We love learning about and engaging in new cultural experiences and really getting a feel for how it all works. We pride ourselves on our ability to keep with tradition but still make it fun for everyone. We truly hope that we will get to experience another Thai wedding in the future!
“I am now with the girl of my dreams… and the DJ of my dreams” – What a night it was with Amanda and Randy! Marz and the Charizma crew headed out armed with a custom funky mix and a trunk full of LED uplights and simply transformed the room into a full blown party. The bride, groom and guests were thrilled beyond belief and danced the night away until someone had to kick them out! Like every bride before the big day, Amanda had a million things going through her mind, and it was our true pleasure to put her at ease so all she had to do was sit back and enjoy the celebration. Like we tell all of our couples – Our job is to make it feel like you’re a guest at your own event. We don’t want you worrying about ANYTHING other than having the time of your life. Then after its all said and done, you are able to look back and say “wow, that wedding was spectacular” – spontaneous perfection… it’s what we do. One of the best parts about Charizma Entertainment is the people we connect with and the events that we are hired to do for them. When I saw Jodie at the Windy City Wedding Show it was a reunion filled with hugs and smiles. Jodie and I met years before as she hired mr to emcee her son’s Bar Mitzvah in 1999. Now, she and her fiancé Guy where looking for DJ entertainment that fit their style and personality. Once we reconnection at the wedding show and she realized that I also do many weddings, it was a natural fit! The wedding and reception was held at the famed Signature Room in Chicago. Located atop the John Hancock Center, The Signature Room at the 95th® offers diners exquisite food, superb service, and a dazzling skyline view. The elegant wood designs and art deco interior create an inviting and intimate atmosphere, while the floor-to-ceiling windows exhibit the stunning Chicago skyline and 360 degree views of the entire city. With this amazing view and atmosphere we chose to illuminate the room with wireless LED lighting to give the room a pop of color and to add the element of fun for dancing later in the evening. The ceremony was performed by a close friend of Jodie & Guy’s with the musical backdrop of a cellist and singer. The cocktail reception was held in the same room so we were ready to go with the music format of the rat pack, Motown and 70’s. As we moved into dinner Jodie wanted to ensure that the mood was set for everyone to dance when dinner was done, so our transition started half way through dinner with some selections that got her friends and family singing and bouncing around in their seats. Jodie and Guy opened the dancing with their first dance “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne – love that song! From there: Earth Wind and Fire, AC/DC, Robin Thicke and the Cha Cha slide the evening progressed flawlessly. And I had the honor of dancing with Jodie several times throughout the evening, and to see the smile on her face made me even happier to know that we had accomplished our goal for the evening. At the end of the reception I took a moment before loading out my equipment to look at my city, Lake Shore Drive, and this night was beautiful.
